Sweetie for my Sweetie

Sometimes that man-of-mine asks if there is something sweet in the house (besides me of course) after we have enjoyed a particularly nice supper!
Sometimes I have something, but most of the time I don’t.  When there are sweets in the house, this momma is going to indulge, so it is better if I don’t have them around!  But, every so often I just have to make my sweetie something scrumptious to satisfy his sweet tooth.
And please tell me, what could possibly be any better than homemade chocolate chip cookies?
How about a homemade deep dish chocolate chip cookie topped with vanilla ice cream!!??

I know you want to make this, and most likely you already have the ingredients on hand.

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
2 sticks butter, softened
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup white sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 bag (12 ozs) Ghirardelli milk chocolate chips

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.  In a small bowl mix together flour, salt and baking powder and set aside.  In a larger bowl, cream together your butter, vanilla, brown & white sugars.  Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well.  Gradually add in the flour mixture until well blended.  Stir in your entire bag of chocolate chips.

At this point you can do one of two things:  use a cookie sheet and drop spoonfuls of cookie dough to make traditional cookies, OR lightly spray a stoneware baking pan with PAM and spread cookie dough about an inch and a half thick.

If you choose the latter option, bake for about 30 minutes until the edges are crispy and the center is set.

Cool just a few minutes, and then serve it up with some delicious vanilla ice cream as the perfect finish  to your supper of bbq baby-back ribs (the ones your hubby was ever so kind to cook for you), fresh corn-on-the-cob & a lovely salad.

Then sit back and let your daughter clean the kitchen because she may or may not have posted something sassy on Facebook regarding the delicious deep-dish chocolate chip cookie & just how awesome her mother is.

  1. I just made Pioneer Woman's steak pizza so if I give in and make your deep dish chocolate chip cookie, I'll need to be slapped. I know where to find it, though…

The move surprises me. Did it surprise you, too? One good thing about having blogging buds move is that they never leave us behind. ☺
