Do you have resolutions for 2013?
Some people make them and break them instantly, some look at the new year as just another month on the calendar, and then there are those who take careful consideration and make plans of goals to accomplish in the upcoming year.
“Every man should be born again on the first day of January. Start with a fresh page. Take up one hole more in the buckle if necessary, or let down one, according to circumstances; but on the first of January let every man gird himself once more, with his face to the front, and take no interest in the things that were and are past.”
~Henry Ward Beecher
I am a planner & a list maker, so naturally I have a few things that want to accomplish this year. I also have a theme for my year.
It is DRIVE.
Maybe it’s this newfound self-confidence & empowerment that I gained in 2012.
Maybe it’s because I’m tired of my kids driving me crazy and I want to drive them crazy for a while….
Just Kidding!!
But I do know that I feel very driven these days to accomplish things that I have thought too difficult to do.
I am going to be driven!
As for goals for 2013, here are a few of mine:
First task? To finish what I started. Yes, my lifestyle change will continue and I will be healthy. Losing 65 pounds in the last six months has increased my self-confidence and reminded me that I can do anything I set my mind to. You know, I haven’t felt that way in years!
Secondly, I plan to make this house we bought and moved into nearly ten months ago our home. We’ve already started a little painting, but there are so many things to do for our personalities to shine through. I want our friends and family to walk through our door and feel at home in our home.
So many of the people we have met here knew the previous owners of this house (they had built it), and are all the time saying “well Donna….”
So selfishly, I suppose, I want people to say “well Jennifer…”
I know, I’m crazy, but think of all the things you have done that have made your house your home.
{I’m keeping the aqua carpet, though.}
Third, I want to get out and about more, mixing and mingling with people instead of being insecure and unsure. This includes attending another Blogger’s conference in the coming year, as well as other blogger arranged events, and checking out this great area where we live!
The South Carolina Upstate has some really great places to shop, dine and experience a little nightlife!
Finally, I want to get a little better organized. You know, throw out the stacks of magazines you are hanging on to because an idea you liked lies between the pages.
You know, the idea you can’t for the life of yourself remember.
{I do that. a lot.}
I want to find all of my holiday linens before the holidays, not three weeks later.
Moving really messes with that stuff, especially when someone else does all the packing and loading for you.
And I want to finally make my kitchen a bit more functional. It’s become quite the mess since I have teen girls that “help” out. Together the three of us are going to get it all straight and make it easy for me to cook and plan meals as well as them handle those tasks the few times I may may not be available.
And when we are all organized, even they can put everything right back where it belongs.
It’s a win-win situation.
My resolutions or goals for this New year are not that many, but they are some that will require time and effort. I’m ready to accept that challenge without a doubt!
So, do you have goals/plans/resolutions/a bucket list for 2013?
I would love to hear them!
“We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day.”
~Edith Lovejoy Pierce
I want to be a bit more organized too and loose about 20 pounds. I still am chasing my dream of visiting Paris and to be a full time red carpet correspondent!

A lot of your goals are mine, too. I wrote mine down this morning. I quit after 15. I decided that that was too many. Wish that I could blame my lack of organization on some teenagers, but there's only the two of us. Remember that old adage “a place for everything and everything in its place”? Well, I want to get back to that in a red hot hurry. John opened his closet two days ago and Christmas crackers and three boxes of cereal fell out. You should have seen his face! Ha!

Jen,
love your attitude and I think that will take you where you want to go..
I worked on my clean up- clean out and get organized in 2012.. did real well but I could always do more this year. my one sticking point in the storage room. I organize it and wake up to find my stuff gave birth to more stuff 🙂 giggle.
I think this year rather than take on all of 2013 I'll do a monthly list , try to accomplish within each 30 day period and check things off that way. I started with my kitchen drawers on the 1st and they are all straight, new drawer paper, clean and organized- CHECK that off my list.
Now if it'll stop raining and dry up a bit I'll get to the front beds and turn the mulch over.
good luck to all of us who have plans and projects in 2013~!

Congrats on losing weight! I know how hard that is. I lose and then I get injured and can't exercise and then gain it back and have to start all over!
Those all sound like doable goals! I decided not to do a word for this year but to go back to goals I want to accomplish. Like you I'm a list maker and planner. The word thing for me was a little too esoteric. I would forget about it by spring. But a written plan with items on a list that I can check off is a better system for me, I think (we'll see 😀 )
