**************************************************************

I’m so excited to be joining in this blog hop today and wanted to tell a little story while sharing one of our Christmas trees that is quite sentimental this season.

Once upon a time I was blessed with the sweetest little boy.  He was a surprise and absolutely adored as the baby after three girls.  He was cuddly and sweet and oh-so kind.

This little boy learned his colors and numbers using his NASCAR racers, learned to read early just so he could complete the entire Harry Potter series of books, and loved his John Deere tractors and Tonka trucks.

This little boy grew quickly, finding passion in sports as he excelled in the swimming pool and on a wrestling mat.

He learned to think for himself while choosing his own path, developed a fabulous work ethic, chose to serve Jesus, and took care of his momma and sisters while his daddy traveled for work.

He adores Star Wars, Captain America, Superman and NCIS.

And he loves his country.

It’s this love of country, that compelled him to come in from school and announce he was joining the Marines.

On November 9, he took his oath and will leave for boot camp right after high school graduation.

I’ve cried.

A lot.

But my heart soars with pride for this boy of mine who is walking in his daddy’s footsteps and choosing the military.

I celebrate him.

I celebrate all who are serving our country and this tree is a reminder of the precious freedom we have that allows us to celebrate.

 Thank you for stopping by!

Check out all the festivities on the other blogs and kick your week with a lot of inspiration!

  1. Jennifer, I love your tree! Thank you and your family for your service and sacrifice to our country. You must be one proud (and scared) momma. This tree is a beautiful way to honor the great USA, your husband and your son. God bless your family!

  2. I cried a little too. My husband retired from the Marines and my youngest son has expressed his interest in the military too, so I can relate. Your tree is a great reminder that freedom isn’t free and that there are many families that have sacrificed to make the US a great place to live.
